Opposite the Cricketers Inn was the bus stop to Emsworth for catching the train to Chichester and onto the High School for Boys. It was also the stop for double-decker buses to South Parade Pier, Portsmouth to catch paddle boat to the Isle of Wight. We were then living at 6 The Grange, the former workhouse. Later we moved to Rosebank, a house belonging to the Johnsons, the shop near The Good Intent Inn.

When I played cricket for the Village The Cricketers was the venue for our tea break.
